New Deck

I helped our son, Craig, two weeks ago put in a sprinkler system at his home in Albuquerque, so he come out early for the wedding to help me replace a small deck in the back yard.  That sounds simple, but it was quite a job.  First I removed all of the 2" Cedar decking.
What a mess!
I will use some of that for more floor joists.  This deck was built around a sunken hot tub that the previous owner had, and we do not.  So adding a few floor joists is no big deal, but my new composite decking is only 1" thick, so I had to rip a bunch of old decking down for shims on top of the old joists.  No big deal.  But wait!  There's more.
My deck designer (DW) wants a ring of three boards around the perimeter and then the middle is filled in all the same direction.  Well to do that, now we have to frame floor joists around the perimeter in a different direction with 45 degree angles!  And of course we had to use hidden fasteners..........

All done, and it looks really sharp!
